Policies & Terms

The following terms and policies are set in place to ensure satisfaction for our clients and the safety of our goats and their offspring. By placing a deposit for a young/adult goat, a newborn goat, or a breeding reservation, you acknowledge these terms and understand that violation of one or more terms may result in appropriate legal action by Ambarino Ranch. Ambarino Ranch and its owners/operators are herein referred to as “the seller.” The party that has placed the deposit or payment for an animal is herein referred to as “the purchaser.”

Our Promises

We maintain a strict biosecurity regimen and test our herd annually for CL, CAE, and Johne’s disease. Therefore, we guarantee any goat purchased from us will test negative for these conditions before leaving our property. All goats sold are guaranteed to be in good health and have received the utmost care while in the seller’s possession, including proper nutrition, shelter, and veterinary care. Upon pickup, purchasers will receive a starter feed bag, health and testing records, and registration/transfer paperwork (if applicable). Pricing reflects the goat’s lineage, including factors such as permanent champions, milk test results, and conformation.

Reservation Terms

As of November 10, 2023, reservations are free to place. Any future changes to reservation fees will be announced at least 14 days in advance via social media and our website.

Until a doe is confirmed pregnant, the breeding buck is subject to change, though adjustments are rare. The seller reserves the right to retain any kid from a breeding, regardless of reservations. If this occurs, the purchaser may choose a backup option, a comparable kid, or a refund. Reservations may also be pushed to the next breeding season. Expected kid pricing will be listed on the “Kidding Schedule” page but may be adjusted based on new achievements (e.g., dam or sire being recognized as elite). Reservation cancellations by the purchaser are non-refundable. Once notified of available kids, purchasers must make a selection within 24 hours. Failure to respond within this timeframe forfeits their reservation priority.

Deposit Terms

A $100 deposit is required to hold a goat until pickup and will be deducted from the total price. A pickup time will be arranged before a deposit is accepted. A goat is only considered “pending” once the seller confirms receipt of the deposit. Goat kids under 8 weeks must be picked up by 14 weeks of age. Goats over 8 weeks must be picked up within two weeks of placing a deposit, unless an alternative arrangement is made. If a purchaser requests a kid to keep its horns (not be disbudded), the full purchase price must be paid upfront. If payment is not received by the disbudding date, the request will be denied.

Deposits are non-refundable unless the goat suffers a serious illness, injury, or death unrelated to the purchaser.

Goat Purchase Terms

The purchaser may have a licensed veterinarian with expertise in caprines conduct a wellness exam within three (3) days of purchase. If a serious pre-existing illness is found, the purchaser must notify the seller within 24 hours and provide a signed veterinarian’s statement to request a refund.

All sales are final. Once the balance is paid and the goat is in the purchaser’s possession, the purchaser assumes full responsibility for the goat’s health and well-being. The seller is not liable for any illness, injury, or death after transfer of ownership.

Any transaction fees from online payment services (e.g., PayPal, Venmo, CashApp) are the responsibility of the purchaser and do not count toward the purchase price. A goat will not be released to the purchaser until the full agreed-upon amount has been received. The purchaser agrees not to dispute electronic payments (PayPal, Venmo, CashApp) in an attempt to reclaim funds in violation of this agreement.

The seller reserves the right to deny a sale if they determine the purchaser is unfit to care for the goat(s). If this decision is made after a deposit is placed, the deposit may be refunded at the seller’s discretion.

If the purchaser does not arrive within one (1) hour of the scheduled pickup time (excluding emergencies, traffic, etc.) and fails to reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice, the deposit will be forfeited and the goat may be relisted for sale.

The seller does not guarantee temperament, conformation, size, production ability, fertility, scur growth, or any other biological variations in the goat.

Registered Goats

Any fees associated with transfer or registration are the purchaser’s responsibility. Registered/registerable goats will be sent home with completed transfer or registration paperwork. The seller may submit the transfer online as a courtesy upon request.

The seller retains the right of first refusal if the purchaser decides to sell a registered/registerable goat they bought from Ambarino Ranch.

Pet Quality Does & Wethers

Pet quality does are sold strictly as non-breeding animals and will not come with registration. Breeding a pet-quality doe violates this agreement and may result in legal action at the buyer’s expense. Wethers (castrated males) are sold as pets or companions. Any attempt to allow a wether to breed (e.g., removing the castration band before the testicles fall) is considered a serious health risk and a breach of this agreement. Wethers cannot be registered with ADGA and will not receive a full registration application upon pickup.

The seller reserves the right to seek legal remedies, including but not limited to financial penalties, in the event that a pet-quality doe or wether is bred in violation of this agreement.

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The purchaser agrees that any disputes arising from this contract will be resolved in Massachusetts courts. By placing a reservation, deposit, or purchasing a goat, the purchaser acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.

Thank You!
